Tune of the Month -
March 2010

NOTSBA Board Member Mary Alice Bernal is stepping in to help with these transcriptions and research.

NOTSBA member Ray Mathes has done many transcriptions for us. He is away taking care of family out of state and will be gone from us for a while.

Thanks, Mary Alice!

Listen to the MP3s and the midi as you review the notation. It will help fix the tune in your ears, mind, heart and, eventually, hands. If don't already read musical notation, listening to the MIDI or MP3s while watching the notation might help you along in that direction.

Old Piss

Notation - Transcription by Mary Alice Bernal from what Mary Alice has heard and learned at local jams.

MIDI - From the transcription

MP3 - This is one of Mary Alice's favorite tunes played at local jams. She first heard it from Alan O'Bryant. It is related to Liberty and was according to Andrew Kuntz website -- the fiddlers' companion -- apparently a very popular fifer tune in Pennsylvania. Key of D -- standard tuning.
