Musicians and Presenters

Presenters for 2007 were:

George Gruhn
It's been said that George knows more about guitars than anyone else alive. Some of you old-timers might give him a run for his money, but it's not likely you'll ever match the collection of fantastic instruments at his world famous Gruhn Guitars on Nashville's lower Broadway. His customers range from ordinary folks like us to heavy hitters like Eric Clapton, Neil Young, the late Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett, Vince Gill, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney .

Kerry Blech
If you've been around old-time music long for even just a little while, you've hopefully found that great publication, The Old Time Herald. And if you've read the Herald, then you know Kerry Blech as a writer. If you're lucky, you've heard his fine fiddling as part of Hart & Blech.

Joyce Cauthen
A great friend of NOTSBA and long-time participant in BUW, Joyce is a researcher, writer, and presenter who gives her heart and talents to the music we all love. She's a delightful presenter, and a wonderful performer of old-time music as a member of Flying Jenny.

Clyde Davenport
Clyde's honors are many, including an NEA National Heritage Fellowship, the country's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. He will be a delight to hear - especially since it's almost impossible to find commercial recordings of this great old-time fiddler and banjo player.

Dan Gellert
Dan Gellert started learning folk guitar, fiddle, and banjo in the 1960's in New Jersey, but you'd think he grew up in those Appalachian hills. He draws a crowd when his name appears among the teachers at banjo, fiddle, and other music camps and retreats. Come find out why.

Chrissy Davis-Camp
Chrissy is a talented and popular dance caller with much developed skill at getting all of us, even nondancers, to kick up our heels and have a big time.

Roby Cogswell
Musician, Tennessee Director of Folk Arts, and old friend, knowledgably MC’s our programs.

Martin Fisher
Martin comes to every Breakin' Up Winter (and other NOTSBA events) to share his passion and expertise in old-time recording techniques. His wax-cylinder recordings are as authentic as it can get, and he'll show you how it's done and record you in true old-time style.
